The museum is named Stuhr Museum after Leo Stuhr. He was actually a farmer along with being a famous politician of the area. His family was one of the important families who settled in this region. It was Leo Stuhr who donated huge sum of money, artifacts as well as land for the development of the museum.

In the Stuhr Museum there is a building called the Stuhr Building which exhibits most of the items of the museum. This building was designed by one of the famous architects called Edward Durell Stone. The museum was finally built by Geer-Melkus Construction Company. The Railroad Town which is also an important part of the museum was also the birth place of Henry Fonda. The museum was also an important part of two films. They are My Antonia in the year 1995 and Sarah,Plain and Tall in the year 1991.







There are various events which are held in the Stuhr Museum . These include Back To School in Railroad Town, All Hallows Eve, Last Day of Outdoor Activities, Christmas Past and Present and Nebraska Film Festival. The museum also provides various learning opportunities. Various cookery classes are held here along with summer camps. Celebrations and group activities are also held in Stuhr Museum. Here you can organize get together, family reunions, parties, meetings and even wedding receptions as well.
